ASIA 2018 - 2019
Time has flown by very quickly this last couple of years. And this is our first update for about 2 years as well!! What has happened? We joined Niven to sail his yacht Pacemaker from Langkawi to Fremantle, Western Australia over Xmas / New Year 2017 - 2018, stopping in northern Sumatra and Cocos Islands. Visited friends and family in Australia, then returned to Langkawi. We had a couple of visits back to Philippines to visit friends and business, and then another couple of trips back to Australia. Gay also had a mascectomy early in 2018, but so far so good and no chemo was needed. We have also done a lot of repairs and improvements on our boat and had a couple of sailing trips up to Phuket, Thailand and Phang Nga Bay. We have also been pleased to have visits to Langkawi from Mike's sister Carole, and Gay's sister Gillian and husband Martyn.

We constructed this PVC tube as an extension to the valve handle for our bilge water outlet through the hull. this saves an arm's length reach through the galley cupboard and is permanently connected to the valve.
We removed the traditional alternator arm and made an adjustable arm that makes it very much easier to keep correct tension on the Vee belt.
The cockpit speakers had deteriorated in the sunshine. we were unable to find a matching oval shaped speaker so used round ones mounted in a Perspex backing.
Our cat Miming has now left us and passed on to our doctor's nurse...hopefully she is much happier on land as she really was not happy motoring or sailing away from land.

Our Volvo gearbox has given us several failures due to some ambiguous advice in the workshop manual. This has necessitated some careful travel under sail alone as there is almost no warning of the failure. We can strip it down blindfolded now!
